| Matthew McConaughey has allegedly been offered the leading role in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar . Deadline reports that the actor would play a character named Cooper.
Directed and written by Nolan, Interstellar is based on a script by Jonathan Nolan. The film will be produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan of Syncopy Films and Obst of Lynda Obst Productions. Kip Thorne will executive produce. The film will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding. McCanaughey, who recently starred in Killer Joe , The Paperboy , and Magic Mike can soon be seen in Mud , The Dallas Buyers Club and The Wolf of Wall Street . | Although most of the film is planned to shoot in and around New York City, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has now booked production time at the Big Tupper Ski Area in Tupper Lake, New York. The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports that the Platinum Dunes production will make use of the resort which, last September, was forced to shut down.
Three days of shooting will also take place at Lake Tupper's local golf course and the schedule is said to call for a scene wherein a helicopter lands on the driving range. | First announced last July, Leif G.W. Persson's series of Swedish detective novels, Backstrom , is headed to the small screen. Today, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that "The Office" and Super star Rainn Wilson has signed on to play the title character.
The books follow the adventures of an overweight detective, Evert Backstrom, who manages to solve crimes despite his ornery disposition. In the American version, the name will be changed to Everett Backstrom and the location to Portland, Oregon. Hart Hanson, the creator of "Bones," is attached to write and executive produce a pilot with Persson and Niclas Salomonsson producing as well. | Anticipated by fans since the series went off the air in 2007, a Veronica Mars feature film is officially on the way! This morning's ambitious Kickstarter attempt to raise the $2 million necessary to greenlight such a project was a record-breaking success and the targeted budget was reached in less than 12 hours.
The series, from creator Rob Thomas, starred Kristen Bell as the titular Mars, a young student who, growing up with a detective for a father, moonlit as a private investigator. | Columbia Pictures had already revealed that all of the filming for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is taking place in New York City, but now The Wall Street Journal has taken it one step further and gone into detail about where exactly they are filming and some of the sets they are working on. The production sprawls over about 300,000 square feet at four facilities in Long Island and Brooklyn. The movie began shooting Feb. 1 and will take 151 days to shoot, but just a few dozen will take place on locations in the city and upstate. Walt Disney Pictures' Oz The Great and Powerful brought new life to a slow 2013 box office so far, earning an estimated $80.3 million domestically and $69.9 million internationally for a worldwide total of $150.2 million. Joe: Retaliation arriving in theaters at the end of this month, ComingSoon.net sat down to speak with VFX Supervisor James Madigan, one of the key behind-the-scenes talents who (quite literally) took the script from action figure reenactments to stuntmen ziplining across actual snowcapped mountaintops.

Things picked up somewhat as March kicked off with the release of Bryan Singer's fantasy epic Jack the Giant Slayer (New Line/WB), starring Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor and newcomer Eleanor Tomlinson, and though it didn't have much competition, allowing it to gross $28 million over the weekend, that might be seen as a disappointment compared to its reported $200 million budget.
