Steve Carell and Tina Fey are going on a Date Night, and Mark Wahlberg and James Franco are coming with them. The actors have just signed on to supporting roles in the Shawn Levy-directed comedy along with Leighton Meester, Common, the Oscar-nominated Taraji P. Henson and Kristen Wiig.
No offense to Ben Stiller, but this is a pretty nice step up from the ensemble casts of Levy's two Night at the Museum movies. The director credits Carell and Fey for attracting their talented co-stars: "People just kept saying yes. I think [they] just really wanted to work with Tina and Steve."
The movie kicks off when a married couple's routine date night goes horribly wrong. According to Variety, Wahlberg will play a securities expert who flirts with Fey's character and Franco a not-too-bright criminal. Meester will play the couple's babysitter for the night, while Wiig will play Fey's best friend. Meanwhile, Common stars as a villain and Henson plays "the one good cop who believes the couple is in danger."
