Looks like Terminator Salvation director McG is going to be moving from post-apocalyptic robots to Broadway musicals for his next movie - a big-screen adaptation of the racy coming-of-age play Spring Awakening. He's currently in talks to direct and produce.
Set in 19th-century Germany, the story revolves around "a group of teens discovering their sexuality and dealing with high-wire topics like masturbation, abortion, rape and suicide." McG's a decent fit for Awakening after getting his start directing music videos, but a decidedly non-mainstream rock musical is kind of an odd followup to a summer blockbuster, no?
