Amy Adams to star alongside Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg in a true story about boxer "Irish" Micky Ward's unlikely road to the world light welterweight title. His Rocky-like rise was shepherded by half-brother Dicky, a boxer-turned-trainer who rebounded in life after nearly being KO'd by drugs and crime.

Mark Wahlberg will take on the role of "Irish" Micky Ward and his half-brother turned his trainer will be portrayed by Christian Bale, and Amy Adam is a bartender that is involved in a romantic relationship with the boxer. Adams is in final talks.

David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings) is helming the film. The Fighter is set to be released in 2011.
