The month of April is probably the slowest month out of the entire year for movies. There are hardly any Holidays to produce movies about, everyone is busy with work and school, and it's just nasty outside. But none of that stopped the guys over at Fast and Furious from raking in the dough over the weekend, the movie brought in an overwhelming 72.5 million!
Not only is that the top opening of the year to date and the biggest April opening by almost double (Anger Management drew $42 million in April, 2003), it's the largest opening ever for February to April second only to The Passion of the Christ. It's also the top amount for any film starring Vin Diesel.
I bet the director and writers are going to work tomorrow to start the next installment of this series!
